Lawn Scarifier: the best method to regenerate your lawn

The lawn scarifier is a useful gardening tool to ventilate the lawn, but what is this activity? Aerating is a generic term for cutting through the soil, helping to remove dead moss and other debris with slight incisions in the ground; it is an essential operation because this layer settles on the soil and over time, limits the exchange of oxygen. It also reduces not only the passage of sunlight and water but also essential nutrients for a healthy and luxuriant lawn... In this way, both fertilization and reseeding will be affected. If a lawn that is poorly oxygenated and poorly watered, you will have a lower capacity for photosynthesis and the lawn is more likely to become sick or weakened.

Electric scarifier

The electric scarifier is the best solution if you don't have too large areas to treat, and you can safely use a wire tool without affecting your work. Just like all lawn scarifiers, this one looks a lot like a lawnmower and has a rear bag for the collection of debris and plant residues. Being electric, this type of lawn scarifier is quite environmentally friendly considering that you won't have to worry about future disposal of damaged batteries and it is a useful and convenient solution for those who don't have extensive areas to treat. All you'll need is an electrical socket and go!

Manual scarifier

The manual scarifier is recommended for those who need to ventilate reasonably large areas. Its appearance, unlike the electric one, will be very similar to a rake, on which side wheels are often mounted for ease of movement. Although it may appear to be an uncomfortable tool, its use is easy and immediate: use it as a standard rake. But a sufficient amount of force must be applied so that it can penetrate the ground to remove the layer that has formed.

Gardena manual rake

Gardena specializes in the manufacture of gardening products and has joined the Husqvarna brand since 2006. From the union of two winning brands, one can only expect equally winning products. The Gardena manual scarifiers that you will find on our website are quite extensive: from the weeder blade to the star blade to the grass broom! But that's not all... If you prefer a manual scarifier over an electric, petrol or battery-operated one, but at the same time you don't want to give up the comfort of working at full speed, choose the mini scarifier on wheels that combines the classic features of a rake with the modern touch given by the wheels.

Petrol scarifier

The internal combustion engine scarifier is an indispensable machine to treat medium-large areas because the internal combustion engine has a higher working autonomy and in fact can cover areas up to 1200 square metres. For these reasons, it is recommended for those who have more demanding needs or for those who do not have an electrical system nearby and want to work in maximum freedom. With Lineonline you are lucky...despite their high performance, the internal combustion engine scarifiers it offers are practical and easy to handle.

Professional scarifier

The professional scarifier is the best tool to remove the layer of moss and other residues left on the lawn. With a professional tool, you will allow your lawn to regenerate itself at its best and what gives professionalism to the lawn scarifier is undoubtedly an internal combustion engine, capable of withstanding more intense work sessions; another decisive element is the number of blades and the sturdiness of the body and although it is perhaps a foregone conclusion, the power of the engine: usually 1700 W for an electric lawn scarifier are more than enough to be considered a value that can be combined with a professional scarifier

How and when to ventilate your lawn

To renovate your lawn, you can use manual, electric or burst-flow lawn scarifiers; regardless of the type, it is always a good idea to cross over at 90 degrees to remove the layer of debris in depth. Regular aerating helps you to have a more vibrant and healthier lawn because nutrients, water and air penetrate the soil better, and as a result, you also have better root growth. But how do you air your lawn? It's essential to work only in dry grass conditions, and before you start airing, you should cut the grass not too short (approx. 3 cm). First, carry out an initial test on an area that does not present any particular problems. Also, after aerating, you should reseed and for a healthy and beautiful lawn, air 1-2 times a year: in spring after the last frost, as soon as the soil dries out and in autumn, before the frost.
