Petrol Trimmer: when to choose it
The petrol engine powered trimmer is essential for those who are looking for a professional tool that can guarantee high performance in a short time. The internal combustion engine trimmer is unmatched in terms of power, and its engine can be of two types:
- two-stroke - a single mixture of oil + petrol
- four-stroke - two separate tanks for oil and petrol
The two-stroke engine is preferred if you are looking for a lighter trimmer, while the 4-stroke engine is heavier, but offers higher performance and its use should be reserved for more substantial work and purely professional purposes.
Whether it is one type or the other, it must be admitted that it is a rather noisy machine and that is why, if possible, it should preferably be started during a time slot allowed for the public peace.
Tips for buying
Since many times an online purchase, especially when it comes to garden machines, can be so fast but not so easy given the wide range of products, we thought we would list some tips to consider before a possible purchase:
- If you're looking for a powerful engine, make sure it has at least 600 watts.
- The more reliable and robust is the engine, the more the price will inevitably arise. In this case, it is crucial not to lose sight of the fact that it is more appropriate to spend a fair amount once than many small amounts, which do not weigh in the short term but have a significant impact on your budget in the long run.
- The ideal weight of a petrol trimmer should never exceed 4 kg, not least because they are machines designed for relatively long jobs.
- If you don't have special needs and a limited budget, you could opt for a multi-purpose brush cutter, also equipped with a trimmer function.
- For the sake of proper maintenance, carefully clean the trimmer with a dry cloth (if possible after each use) and store it in a safe and dry place.
- Always wear the appropriate clothing and accessories before starting the session
Finally, keep in mind that the petrol trimmer is not a one-sided tool and its use is not only limited to trimming edges or turf, but also to more substantial work!
